That foundation is reflected in Kinesic Media’s development of Behavioral Threat Assessment Prevention — “BTAP” — and in the professionals whose careers helped shape the behavioral, investigative, instructional, and safety principles behind the training.

D. Glenn Foster
Father of The Kinesic Interview Technique
D. Glenn Foster is widely recognized as the father and foremost authority on The Kinesic Interview Technique. His professional career has centered on understanding human behavior, recognizing behavioral change, detecting potential deception, and developing practical interviewing methods designed to obtain accurate and actionable information.
Glenn earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a Master of Education degree before beginning his career as an educator. He later entered law enforcement with the Atlanta Police Department and subsequently worked in the field of polygraph examination. Those experiences helped begin a lifelong study of the behaviors people display when subjected to stress, questioning, and scrutiny.
Working with Frederick C. Link, Glenn helped originate the methodology that became The Kinesic Interview Technique. Their landmark book, The Kinesic Interview Technique, published in 1980, introduced principles that would become the foundation of a distinctive approach to professional interviewing and behavioral analysis.
Glenn’s approach goes beyond simply asking questions. It focuses on observable behavior, verbal responses, emotional reactions, and behavioral change, providing professionals with a structured way to recognize indicators that may require further examination and to develop more effective strategies for obtaining reliable information.
For more than 35 years, Glenn has instructed thousands of professionals in North America and abroad. His students have included personnel from the U.S. Army Counterintelligence community, U.S. Department of State, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Mexican Police Kidnapping Units, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, and specialized investigative organizations.
His training has also reached well beyond traditional law enforcement, including fraud investigators, bomb and arson personnel, judges, trial attorneys, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other professionals whose responsibilities depend upon understanding behavior, evaluating information, and assessing credibility.
Glenn’s career represents the behavioral foundation upon which much of Kinesic Media’s work has been built: observe carefully, understand behavior within context, and turn those observations into better professional decisions.
Lt. Rick Miller (Ret.)
Co-Developer and Instructor
Rick Miller brings more than 35 years of law enforcement experience to his work as an investigator, instructor, consultant, and behavioral-analysis professional. His career combines operational law enforcement, advanced investigative training, military service, instructional leadership, criminal case review, interviewing, and behavioral assessment.
Rick holds a degree in Criminal Justice and has completed advanced professional programs including the FBI Executive Development Program, FBI Instructor Development Program, and the ATF Bomb Reconstruction Program, along with numerous other specialized courses.
As a former P.O.S.T.-certified law enforcement instructor, Rick has trained personnel in police academies and law enforcement agencies and advanced to the level of Master-rated Instructor-Trainer.
His professional background also includes service in the United States Army, including assignments with the 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, and the 926th Engineer Battalion. That military experience contributed to the disciplined, adaptable, mission-focused approach that has characterized his subsequent professional work.
One of the most distinctive phases of Rick’s career involved approximately 10 years of specialized criminal case re-investigation. At the request of criminal defense attorneys and the courts, he independently reviewed complex cases involving capital murder, other homicide investigations, and major felony offenses. The work required careful examination of evidence, investigative procedures, witness information, interviews, documentation, and investigative conclusions.
Rick is also a Certified Consulting Hypnotherapist with professional experience in forensic hypnosis involving crime victims and witnesses. He has additionally instructed paramedics and nursing personnel in Emergency Hypnosis, extending his professional interest in human behavior, memory, communication, and the factors that influence information gathering.
Today, Rick applies this combination of investigative, behavioral, instructional, military, and field experience to professional training, including Kinesic interviewing principles and “BTAP”. His approach is practical by design: give participants concepts they can understand and skills they can apply.
Thomas J. Archambault
Technical Advisor
Thomas J. Archambault brings 37 years of specialized experience in use of force, chemical munitions, and less-lethal technology for law enforcement, corrections, and corporate security.
A former President and Chief Instructor of TJA Use of Force Training, Inc., Tom has served as an approved U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Defense federal training contractor and has provided professional instruction internationally.
He also served as the former Executive Director of Training for Federal Laboratories/MSI and has developed specialized instructional programs for less-lethal equipment and technology.
Selected Professional Highlights
- Personally selected to train personnel from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in chemical weapons following the Branch Davidian incident in Waco, Texas.
- Testified before the United States Congress during the Branch Davidian hearings.
- Developed and implemented one of the early nationally recognized generic OC Aerosol Spray Instructor Courses used in connection with the IACP pepper-spray study.
- Developed Master Instructor Certification Programs in chemical munitions, less-lethal munitions, diversionary devices, and use of force.
- Developed Master C.E.R.T. Instructor Certification and Disturbance Control Team Certification programs.
- Recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice as an expert witness in the use-of-force field.
- Served as an authorized U.S. Military Use of Force Instructor/Trainer.
Tom’s experience adds an important operational and safety perspective to Kinesic Media’s work, bringing decades of expertise in professional training, force decision-making, officer safety, protective systems, and the real-world consequences of rapidly developing confrontational situations.
